Informed Consent and Information about your Assessment

Dear Candidate

1.    General

You have been asked to participate in a Psychometric Assessment. The purpose of this assessment is twofold. Firstly to identify your soft skill development needs as a Leader. Secondly to understand your potential for further development.

Soft skills refer to non – technical leadership skills that impact on one’s effectiveness as a Leader. This encompasses facets such as your emotional intelligence; how you work with people and how you approach tasks. Examples would be factors such as empathy, interpersonal awareness, resilience, teamwork and many others. Soft skills have been shown to be key drivers of Leadership performance and organisational effectiveness so by understanding your strengths and development needs in this regard, your employer will be able to devise development plans to assist you in becoming a more effective leader.

Cognitive or problem - solving potential has been shown to be the best predictor of potential for success in future roles. This is due to the fact that Leaders are constantly engaged in problem solving and due to the fact that problem solving challenges become more complex at every higher level in the organisation. By measuring a person’s cognitive potential capability, it is possible to make informed decisions about how likely a person is able to deal with the cognitive challenges of more senior positions.

Using psychometric assessments, this project will enable your HR team and Manager to make informed decisions about your development and potential career path.

2.    What is a psychometric test

Psychometric tests are scientific instruments that provide a reliable and valid measure of a person’s cognitive potential and personality profile. In the context of this project you will complete a multiple choice personality questionnaire which will provide valuable insights into your soft skills; and a problem solving test battery which will provide you with various types of problem solving challenges.

3.    How will the results of your assessment be used.

The Human Resources Manager, your Manager and the Talent Superintendent will be provided with a talent and leadership feedback report. This report will:

- highlight your soft skills strengths and development needs;
- provide insights into how they work for and against you;
- provide development suggestions as well as a suggested individual development plan;
- and provide guidelines on your career path potential.

Management will use this information to support your development as a Leader; and assist in making longer term decisions about your promotability and potential career path.

You will be provided with a feedback report which will provide you with detailed insights into your strengths and development needs.

Once Management and you have worked through the results of your assessment a development discussion will be set up with you involving your Human Resources Manager, Your Manager and the Talent Superintendent where the assessment results and next steps will be discussed with you.
