Informed Consent and Information about your Assessment for the Succession and Localisation Project
1. Introduction
You have been invited to participate in a psychometric assessment which forms part of the Assessment of Nationals for Development Project.
The broad aim of this project is to identify development opportunities for Nationals who are in the following roles (called management spine):
⦁ Supervisor
⦁ General Supervisor
⦁ Superintendent
⦁ Management
2. What will be assessed.
Job performance is largely determined by three drivers, namely:
Technical skills and competencies
Cognitive Capabilities
Personality Attributes
The psychometric assessment will be used to obtain a valid and objective insight into your Cognitive Capabilities and Personality Attributes. The usual internal processes that you should be familiar with will be used to understand your technical skills and competencies.
3. What will the results of my psychometric assessment be used for?
This project is essentially an exercise in development. Your results will be used to identify your leadership strengths and opportunities for development; and to identify development interventions that can assist you in your personal development and that will be included in your Individual Development Plan (IDP). Your results may also be used as one of a basket of methods to identify possible future career paths and career development opportunities; and steps that can be taken to facilitate your career development.
4. Who will see my psychometric assessment results?
Access to your assessment results will be restricted to:
Yourself
Your Managers
The HR staff directly involved in your personal and career development decisions.
5. What is the process that will be followed?
5.1.
HRBP’s and your direct manager (DM) will be provided with a Psychometric Feedback Report (PFR) that will highlight your personal development opportunities identified by the assessment; and that will recommend interventions that may facilitate your development as a leader (and career development ?).
The recommended interventions (RI) range from self – development tools; coaching; training to on – line programs and will be tailored to the specific development opportunities identified by the psychometric assessment. Your HRBP and DM will familiarize themselves with the feedback report and recommended interventions.
5.2.
You will receive the PFR and have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with it. This will play an important role in raising your awareness of your leadership strengths; and also opportunities for development.
5.3.
Your DM and HRBP will set up a development discussion around your PFR where the emphasis will be on agreeing which RI’s will be plugged into your IDP; and agreeing on a time frame for the execution of the RI’s.
5.4.
Your psychometric assessment results may also be used at some point – together with other information and data points - to assist management in understanding what career development and pathing opportunities may be suitable for the participants in this program.
6. What will the psychometric assessment consist of?
It will consist of a personality questionnaire that will provide objective insights into your leadership strengths and opportunities for development; and a cognitive assessment which will provide insights into the type of problem - solving environment you are best suited to.
7. What are your rights?
You are entitled to know the following:
What is being assessed.
This was discussed in points 2 and 6.
Use of the assessment results
You are entitled to understand what your assessment results will be used for. See point 3 above.
Access
You are entitled to know who your assessment results will be shared with. See point 4 above.
Refusal to Participate
Participation in this project is voluntary and you may choose not to participate. You may also withdraw from the assessment process. However, Ambatovy has the right to determine what information it needs to facilitate and manage your personal and career development and you may therefore exclude yourself from these processes should you decide not to participate in the psychometric assessment.
As a test-taker, you may refuse to answer specific items in the assessment. Keep in mind that refusing to answer specific items in the assessment can hinder the assessment results as they will not truly reflect your capability or personality attributes.
8. What can I do to prepare for a psychometric assessment?
You cannot really prepare for an assessment of this nature. The whole purpose is to see what you are inherently capable of, and what kind of person you inherently are. The following are useful tips to keep in mind.
⦁ Make sure you have a good night’s sleep beforehand.
⦁ Never participate in an assessment directly after a night shift.
⦁ On the day of the assessment notify us if you are ill or if there are any circumstances that may adversely affect you.
⦁ Do not allow yourself to be unduly nervous. Whilst it is normal to be a bit anxious, especially if this is the first time you are doing an assessment, remember this is not a test or pass or fail situation. Rather view it as a structured and objective process of gathering information about your inherent capabilities.
⦁ Make sure you have a positive attitude towards the assessment and resolve to enjoy the experience!
